The Belly Laugh That Meta Ads Gave Me
And a Marketing Win You’ll Love! ❤️
I had a belly laugh, hold my tummy, slightly hard to breath moment today :)
And it was over Meta Ads of all things 🙂
Yep .. Ads (I’ll throw in LI Ads for fun).. a joy for some and painful for others .. love them or hate them, they play a pretty significant part in driving new traffic to your business and getting you in front of new people.
Firstly, to share, the founder had a temporary wobble as I froze the £4k spend they were spending on Meta Ads last month .. after a few deep breaths (on their side, not mine - i’m a Marketer, i’m all about purposeful risk) .. we set up new campaigns, we released the immediate financial pressure and we revisited the role the Ads were playing in acquiring new customers.
Gosh! They were squeezing so much out of them, asking them to:
generate awareness
build credibility
nurture relationships AND drive conversion.
The role itself was HUGE! I have never seen so many re-target campaigns lol! ..
Sales were declining whilst the budget just kept on increasing AND then! Due to their customer data being targeted via their Ad sequence, their email lists were fatiguing - sales slowed there too.
It was a puzzle, with many pieces and one I could only see when I stopped to review everything, every number, every sentiment, every attribution my experience could afford me.
But then something magical happened ..
I changed the Ads to traffic ads, to grow the customer base, I held the website accountable for conversion and I held the email flows accountable for nurturing the conversion (tweaked and slightly adjusted) ..
“Marketing” began to work .. :) We kept more pounds and pennies in pockets and stopped giving so much away ..
And the belly laugh - Well ..Meta gave my ads a “Top performing” badge - for spending significantly less 😂
I’ll take that as a win ..
