Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the Law of Circulation.

It’s interesting because it’s not one of the more commonly spoken about universal laws. We hear a lot about the Law of Attraction, manifestation, abundance, mindset… but not much about circulation.

And yet when you really look at life, everything living circulates.

• Blood circulates through the body.

• Water circulates through nature.

• Breath circulates through inhale and exhale.

• The seasons circulate through the year.

Nothing living is truly static.

Before I go any further let me pause for a moment and say that this is very different from the Law of Rhythm.

The Law of Rhythm is about cycles.

The understanding that life moves in seasons. That there are times of growth and times of rest, visibility and retreat, expansion and contraction, ebbing and flowing.

But circulation feels different.

Circulation is about how things continue moving within those cycles.

• How ideas travel.

• How conversations continue living.

• How wisdom moves from one season of our life into another.

And honestly, I think this is something I’ve been trying to understand for quite a while without having language for it.

Because I’ve noticed that I naturally create in motion.

I will often have the best ideas when I am walking in the morning and even though a part of me hesitates as perhaps I ‘should’ be admiring the beautiful Seaview, I am actually head down in my notes as the ideas, inspiration, reflections and even questions, come alive at once, sometimes I find myself recording walk and talk videos 🥰 and I know if I didn’t pause to capture them my energy naturally moves onto the next thing.

And whilst capturing ideas is wonderful, what I haven’t always done… is create places for those ideas to continue living long after I have moved on.

Maybe that’s why I love substack so much, it provides a window into all of those ideas, so that as I continue to build a life and business that breathes with me, I can visually view it all together 😚

Perhaps that’s why the Law of Circulation has struck me so deeply.

Because I don’t think meaningful things are meant to disappear into the stream so quickly.

• A conversation can continue circulating long after it finishes.

• A piece of writing can continue reaching people years later.

• An idea can evolve into many different forms over time.

It’s the essence of what conscious creation really is and what it truly means to build intentionally.

We are no longer in the era of endlessly producing more and more…

But allowing what already exists to keep breathing, moving and evolving in the world.

In life and business, circulation can also mean:

• revisiting

• reorganising

• reconnecting

• resurfacing

• recontextualising

I actually think life and businesses can feel heavy when circulation stops.

• When ideas are created but never revisited.

• When founders become isolated.

• When creativity becomes trapped.

• When visibility becomes forced instead of relational.

Because circulation is flow and much like a kink in a hose pipe, if we staunch access to flow, circulation breaks.

There’s also something deeper here ..

Circulation requires trust.

Because when something moves:

• you release control over exactly how it travels,

• who it reaches and what it becomes next.

Perhaps that’s why I’ve been thinking so much recently about places where thoughts and conversations can continue living over time.

Not just content.

But living things.

We want meaningful things to:

• live

• travel

• connect

• return

Which perhaps links beautifully to the fact that this very understated universal law is the unseen movement between creation
and arrival, so that what we share continues to breathe our stories long after they were first created.
